Rough Alpaca Fleece

Rough Alpaca Fleece for sale is simply that, alpaca fleece in it's rough state after it is shorn from our animals.

Alpaca fleece does not need to be washed before it is used. This is because it contains no oil or lanolin as sheep wool does. Only if you are going to dye your fleece would you wash it prior to or as a part of the dyeing process.

Rough Alpaca fleece has been hand picked. This means that every effort has been taken to remove hay and large dirt or bits of animal by products. It is not guaranteed to be free of these items.

The fiber is ready to card or comb. Some spinners actually just spin rough fleece without carding. The choice is up to you.

Blanket fleece is more expensive than neck and leg fleece as it is the "prime" cut of fiber. Blanket fleece is one color. Neck and leg fleece usually has several different colors depending on the alpaca. Autumns neck and leg fiber makes a wonderful multi tone brown yarn I call Autumn mix. Earl and Rains fleece makes a great gray and white mix I call Winter mix.

Brown Alpaca Fleece

Brown Alpaca Fleece comes from Montana Mariah, Montana Autumn and Solomon. Montana Mariah is a dark and rich color of brown. Solomon is the lightest and has a tint of gold. Montana Autumn falls right between.

Black Alpaca Fleece

Black Alpaca fleece is available from Edgy and Ebony. Ebony is the cria of Edgy and has his fantastic, rich natural black color. There is no need to dye this fiber.

White Alpaca Fleece

White Alpaca Fleece comes from Cirrus Nimbus, Montana Ivory, and Emperor Nanook. All three alpacas have superior crimp and lustre. Nanook has a very slight beige appearance. White fleece can be dyed any color or is beautiful in its natural state.

Gray Fleece

Fawn Fleece

Coming soon is a new line of fawn colored fleece from Montana Cinnamon and Montana Butterscotch. Cinnamon is a medium fawn and Butterscotch is a light fawn. Both should spin fantastic as these animals show wonderful crimp.

This fleece will not be available until we shear our alpacas in the spring. Supplies will be limited.
